Five tips and tricks from Tim Lips to…
1- BE ABLE TO JUMP A 1.00 METER SHOWJUMPING CLASSES
One of the main reasons that I enjoy Eventing is its versatility. Each test is unique which is something really rewarding but also requires a proper level in each discipline. Make sure you have a good control of your horse and an appropriate level.
2- BE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT
That’s a good thing if you want to try Eventing… However you need to have the equipment for it.
When you start your first training you need to better your odds. Your horse needs to be well protected. So do you. Be concerned about your security. This is important that you always wear a safety vest, but also a good helmet. Now about softer things, you also need to feel confortable in your clothing. I personally use Horse Pilot. I feel free to move as I need within these products. They are also snug and allow me to keep a good contact with my mount.
3- SET UP A MEETING WITH A COACH
In the Eventing world, theory is not enough! For a good beginning the best thing to do is to find a guru who will follow you. This is actually what gave me the opportunity to start on good bases and get an amazing first cross experience and most of all not being scared. It also allowed me to notice my weak points and work on them with a good understanding of my mount.
4- WATCH EVENTING VIDEOS
Say good-bye to your entire evenings watching Homeland… These are now Eventing videos that you are going to watch! Ok, maybe not every night but it is important for you to watch them on a regular basis. You can learn a lot from watching how other riders do and it will also help you to be mentally prepared.
5- HAVE FUN
I just love what I do for living.
Some people are playing FIFA, Eventing is my thing. I do not have the time to get bored with my schedule. I love challenges. I would not change a second of it.

Three, two, one… let’s go!
1- SAVOIR SAUTER 1 METRE EN CONCOURS
C’est ce que j’aime dans le concours complet, c’est son éclectisme. Participer à des épreuves totalement différentes est extrêmement enrichissant, mais cela nécessite d’avoir un bon niveau dans chacune d’entre elles. Assurez-vous donc d’avoir un bon contrôle de votre monture et un niveau suffisant.
2- ETRE SÛR D’AVOIR LE BON EQUIPEMENT
Vouloir faire du complet, c’est bien. Avoir l’équipement pour, c’est mieux !
Avant un premier entraînement, il vaut mieux mettre toutes les chances de son côté. Pour votre cheval, avoir des protections adaptées par exemple. Ne négligez pas votre sécurité ! Prenez bien un protège-dos et un bon casque. Sujet un peu plus léger maintenant, il est également nécessaire que ce soit du matériel dans lequel vous vous sentez bien. Personnellement, j’utilise la marque Horse Pilot. Ces vêtements me laissent libre de mes mouvements, sont confortables et de surcroit n’entachent pas mon contact avec ma monture.
3- PRENDRE RENDEZ-VOUS AVEC UN COACH
Dans le complet, la théorie ne suffit pas ! Pour commencer, il vaut quand même mieux se trouver un gourou qui vous suivra tout au long de votre parcours. Grâce à cela vous aurez l’occasion de vivre une belle première expérience en cross, et surtout moins de risques de vous faire peur… C’est en tout cas ce qui m’a permis de partir sur de bonnes bases. Grâce à cela j’ai également pu comprendre mes points faibles et travailler dessus tout en prenant ma monture en compte.
4- REGARDER DES VIDEOS DE COMPLET
Adieu les soirées devant Homeland… Désormais c’est devant des vidéos de concours que vous les passerez ! Enfin peut-être pas toutes, mais en regarder régulièrement est vraiment important. Cela permet de se préparer mentalement et d’apprendre des autres cavaliers.
5- S’AMUSER
Personnellement, j’adore ce que je fais.
Certains jouent à FIFA, moi mon dada c’est le complet. Avec un emploi du temps comme le mien, pas le temps de m’ennuyer. Je suis comme ça, le challenge me fait vibrer. Je ne changerais ça pour rien au monde.
